Minsoo was born in Seoul, Korea and holds a B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Hong Ik University. She makes her home in Athens, Georgia with her potter husband Sunkoo Yuh.
Minsoo’s interest in clay dates back to a general art class in junior high. She describes it this way: “I came early morning to the classroom one day and saw a collection of unfired clay pots lit up by sunlight in my teacher’s small office. That moment really inspired me to learn more about clay in my journey as an artist (even though I didn’t start working with clay until later in college). I still remember that day.”
Minsoo tells us she enjoys the balance of careful labor and relying on both creative processes and natural processes out of her control. She describes it as an opportunity for her to contemplate herself and life.
